Cause for conern? Or am I just overthinking??
So, the Dragon Festival got me thinking. Think about Nine Rings or Rings of Fortune. First off I should say that I am not trying to troll, or whine or anything, but I know people that go afk on the rings to build either of their Lucky/Unlucky titles. I don't, because I personally don't feel it very deserving when I buy 250 tickets and can earn a title spending less than 1k. Anyway back on topic, this is from the wiki, and its what it says about botting: "a player can activate a program which will farm or leech in-game rewards for the person while he or she sleeps, works, or otherwise goes about life outside of Guild Wars. In this manner, a player can accumulate large amounts of gold or faction with little to no effort." Thinking about that, I understand it says the player must activate a program, however, isn't the concept the same as being afk on rings? You go afk, whether at work, sleeping or on with your life outside of Guild Wars, sure you don't activate a third party program so because of that fact, is it within the Terms & Conditions to be afk on rings? I ask because while you do this, you are receiving "in-game rewards" while effectively being afk, so it makes me wonder if it's okay to do or not. I hope to hear an answer, without being bashed, like I said this was only a question because I am concerned for some friends who do this

Should say: activate a third-party program. Guild Wars itself is not counted obviously .
Just going afk isn't botting. Last edited by Dzjudz; Jul 01, 2010 at 08:54 PM // 20:54.. |

Going AFK isn't a third party program nor does it generate any in game benefit... you're losing a not inconsiderable amount of gold in exchange for your title... maxing the lucky title alone by afking Nine Rings should set you back about 2.2 million gold and take over 700 hours of afk time.
You won't be earning any title with your 1k. You have nothing to be concerned about. |

I'll say it one more time, in very simple terms...
You're not violating the user agreement by merely going AFK. You're trading gold for lucky/unlucky points, you're buying the title in exactly the same way you'd be getting it if you weren't afk. Statistically, you will lose money in the long run, you won't max the title and make a profit, you won't break even, you will lose a significant sum of coin. Period. |

Ohhhhhh I get it now thank you . I guess that was just some random fluke and he just had a lucky streak. But anyway, I guess there isn't anything wrong with it since it is implemented in game, I was just thinking that its similar to botting in the sense that one is afk yet still benefiting from something . Thanks!

It's not ok. That's why 9 rings has been around for over 4 years with thousands of people playing it. Every 30 seconds ppl on the rings have to send an e-mail to ncsoft and let them know they aren't afk or else they get banned.

Dhuum's Scythe actually hits all adjacent afk targets with one sweep.
